I would say the last way is the one that is most practical. Start with the first rung, then move to the second, then the third and so on till you reach the top. Baby steps, but together they become a huge step.
So also in other areas of your life
As in climbing the ladder so also in other areas of your life – personal or professional. You get to your destination, to the position and place you desire to be in, only by taking the journey, one step at a time, starting with the very first step.
The first step is always frightening. But you still have to take it because that is the only way forward. Fear can pull you back, so be extra conscious – overcome the fear. What holds you back is the fear of failing, but unless you try you will not know what and how much you can do. It is when you feel afraid that you need to tighten your belt and face the challenge and beat it.
First step is always the toughest
That first step is always the toughest, but it’s also the most important so take as much time as you need – but take it.
Being nervous about taking the first step is there in all of us – we all have a list of things to do and then we keep putting it off with some lame excuse or the other. But if we don’t start we will not reach the end either. To become the success we want to be, we have to start at the very beginning, from the very first rung of the ladder, just like we start learning our alphabets from the letter “A”.
Finally find ourselves at the top
When we are at the first rung, the top of the ladder seems very far away; but when we move on to the second rung, it is a slight bit nearer and so on for the next steps. And we finally find ourselves at the top, at our goal.
But to be successful, we have to persevere and follow through. We cannot rest on each small achievement, we cannot expect to reach the end by just trying to move a few steps ahead. We have to have the bigger picture in mind and we have to continue with our efforts to travel on the path we believe will take us to our goals.
To win, we have to begin
To win, we have to begin. We have to have a road map and we have to take action. We have to look for and find the doorway to success. And if we cannot find it, we have to make our own doorway. We may find the right door or we may not. But unless we start moving we will not know if it is right road or not. And if it is the wrong road, we have to try again till we find the correct one. Each step gives us direction and helps us move forward.
Success is not a destination it is a process composed of little wins at every step – the first step is the toughest but go ahead, take the plunge and start whatever you want to start – that first step will galvanise you further to more steps and greater success.
